Lindsay was packing a few more things to take with her back to Fandom, mostly books and clothing she'd need for the winter months since she'd be staying for the school year. It was hard to tell her parents, and they reacted how she thought they would. They were confused and sad. After enough explanation about how being there has helped her deal with a lot of things and that she felt like the school was a better fit for her than McKinley High was, they seemed to understand.

She left out the part about the technology making things so much more convenient. That was hardly the main reason she was staying, though.

She was just about finished packing when someone knocked on the door. Sam. "Can I come in?"

Lindsay opened the door. "Sure, what's up?"

"Are you sure you want to leave?" Sam asked nervously, which was amusing considering he was now taller than her. He had actually grown a lot over the summer, literally. He had been shorter than her. Now, he was almost towering over her.

Lindsay nodded reluctantly. She did hate to be leaving Sam. "Yeah, I think it's something I need to do. But you can still call anytime. You can visit, too, you know. And I'll be visiting home a lot."

"I just wanted to make sure it's really what you want," Sam explained. "But you do seem happier. So I guess I'm okay with it, then."

"Thanks, Sam," Lindsay said, grinning. She knew she didn't need the approval, but it was nice that she'd be leaving on good terms with her family.

"The real question is, are you sure you want to hang out here watching tv with us on your last night here? And by us I mean Mom and Dad?" Now Sam was laughing.

So was Lindsay. "Yeah, I think I can manage. Might as well enjoy the tv before it becomes obsolete."

"You're weird," Sam joked before heading out of her room.

Lindsay chuckled to herself. If only Sam knew about high definition television and blu-ray dvds. He'd probably wear out all the Space Battles dvds.

She closed her suitcase, placing it under her bed in wait for tomorrow morning. After turning the light out, she joined her family on the couch for a night of tv and ice cream. For the first time in awhile, she felt sure of herself.
